We are thrilled to announce that Lockton Charitable Association’s (Lockton Charity) has selected Together for Short Lives as its Charity of the Year.
This exciting partnership is set to raise money to support the UK’s children’s hospices and our vital work to ensure that every seriously ill child and their family receive the care and support they need.
Lockton’s Charity of the Year programme, started in 2009, supports community, charity, and environmental projects. In 2016, the Lockton Charitable Association was set up to expand their giving. Run by a Board of Trustees, the charity encourages Lockton associates to get involved by nominating causes and leading fundraising efforts. This year, we are extremely pleased to have been chosen as their Charity of the Year, and we know that the partnership will have a significant impact on the lives of seriously ill children and their families across the country.
At Together for Short Lives, we understand the challenges faced by families caring for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. With the right support, seriously ill children and their families can create special memories that last forever. However, for many, this journey can feel lonely and isolating as they navigate a system that doesn’t always meet their uniquely challenging needs.
Thanks to this partnership with Lockton Charitable Association, we can continue to offer lifeline support, helping families make the most of every moment they have together, whether that’s for years, months, or even hours. Through this partnership, we’re also able to raise awareness and connect families with a compassionate community of support through their local children’s hospice.
By twinning Lockton offices with local children’s hospices, they aim to deepen their impact beyond financial contributions, fostering a deeper understanding and connection to the needs of children and families in local communities across the UK.

Supporting the UK’s 53 children’s hospices
With Lockton’s vital support, Together for Short Lives can continue helping families like Margaret’s, who rely on children’s hospices just like Jessie May.
The support Margaret and her family received from Jessie May Children’s Hospice at home support was life-changing. Balancing the care of her seriously ill daughter, Amy, and her youngest daughter, Clare, as well as her own health issues became difficult for Margaret. This is when Jessie May nurses stepped in. The dedicated nurses provided vital support, helping the family bring Amy home for Christmas day, creating precious memories the family will always cherish.
Even after Amy passed away, Jessie May remained a constant presence. Clare, now a nurse herself, still remembers how much they included her, playing and talking with her while Amy was in hospital. “They weren’t just there for Amy – they were there for me too,” she recalls.
Our partnership can ensure more families like Margaret’s receive the care and support they need. Whether it’s respite care, emotional support, or simply knowing they’re not alone, Charitable Association’s support will make a lasting difference to families facing the unimaginable.
